Getting creative with clay is what I do best and I love passing on my passion for pottery to others. Whether you would like to take to the potter's wheel, get crafty at the workbench, learn individually or in a group of likeminded people, I will have a ceramic experience to suit your taste.

I love to share my passion for pottery with others and to that end I offer tuition at beginner and intermediate levels for those who are keen to learn. I also provide group workshops throughout the year focusing on a variety of techniques

Pricing

Throwing tuition on the potter’s wheel

£30 per hour (individual)

£20 per hour, per person (pairs)

Think Patrick Swayze in the movie 'Ghost'. Ok maybe not quite as sensual as that, but there's no denying that throwing (what we potters call making a pot on the wheel) can be a very therapeutic process, that is once you get the hang of it! Learning to throw clay will also teach you the virtue of patience, which is something that I have had to take on board during my pottery journey and all beginner students should be wary of setting their sights too high when it comes to building their skills. Beginner students can expect to throw a couple of small items in their first session, but the main thing is to enjoy the experience as a whole. Learning to throw on the wheel is about the journey, not the destination.

Tuition on the wheel is available for the individual or for pairs. Each session lasts a minimum of 2 hours. Students may book a regular slot, book sessions on an ad hoc basis or as a one off taster session.

Group workshops

£20 per hour, per person

I run drop in group workshops for hand-building and for glazing. Attend either on your own to join an existing group, or bring a friend or two to get creative with. I encourage students to bring their own ideas to sessions and to be as creative and as experimental as they like.

Hand-building Workshops

Remember at school when you got to make a little pot out of tubes of clay? Well this is the next level up. Perfect for beginners (no children under the age of 12), my hand-building workshops offer tuition in small groups covering a range of techniques from coil and pinch pots to working with textured slabs and ceramic spoons.

Glazing workshops

These group workshops are offered only to those who have already created work in the studio and are looking to decorate and finish their pieces. The price includes the use of materials and firing.

Studio space hire

£15 per hour, per person

If you are already in the know about the ins and outs of pottery and need no help from me in getting your skills off the ground but are in need of a place to practice them, then I can help! Unsupervised studio space is available for hire for potters of an intermediate level and upwards for £15 per hour. Studio sessions must be booked in advance and are subject to availability. Use of equipment and firings are included, but the use of materials is not included in the price.

All classes and workshops are also available to purchase as a gift!
